Directions

From the village hall, the walk goes past the Forncett Industrial Steam Museum and then along the Tas Valley Way, with views over the River Tas and two flint churches, before walking back to the village hall. There is also an option to visit Norfolk Tank Museum.

Please remember to take nothing but memories and photographs, leaving nothing but footprints.

01. From the village hall car park turn left and walk along Low Road, ignoring roads to the left, go past Forncett Industrial Steam Museum on the right (details can be found on their website) and continue on Low Road, bearing right at the fork until you arrive at a T-junction.

02. Turn right at the junction in the direction of Tasburgh, cross the Rive Tas and almost immediately take the footpath on the right. This is the Tas Valley Way, which the walk follows for over 2 miles, along footpaths with views over the River Tas and pastureland, with flint churches of Forncett St. Mary and Forncett St. Peter on the right, and the Norwich to London railway line on the left.

03. Follow this footpath, criss-crossing a hedge all the way to Station Road, over stiles and a footbridge. Turn left here to visit The Norfolk Tank Museum in about 1/4 mile (details can be found on their website).

04. Continue the walk by crossing Station Road, through Somerset Farm, following the signs and fencing through the farm, again criss-crossing the hedge over stiles to reach Wash Lane.

05. Turn right, walk along the road and use the footbridge to cross the River Tas. In a short distance turn right at a road junction and walk along Aslacton Road to the next road junction, where you can take the footpath to the right to visit St Peter’s church.

06. Continue walking straight ahead along Low Road back to the village hall, walking along the pavement where possible, past Station Road on the right and St. Mary’s Church, which is worth a visit.
