Modern Slavery Conference
The Rotary Club of Norwich St Edmund is organising an all-day conference exploring the urgent and often unseen issue of modern slavery and human trafficking in our communities and beyond.
Through expert talks, survivor testimonies and a panel discussion, the speakers at the conference will aim to shed a light on the realities of exploitation where millions of unsuspecting victims continue to be deceived and transported across regions, countries and continents for their organs, pressed into armed combat or forced to toil for no pay in factories, fields, homes, hotels, quarries, restaurants and in the sex trade where they are used and abused, and for young girls repeatedly traded on the female used body market where they are passed from man to man like a shared cigarette⦠used and then all too often stubbed out.
The speakers will also highlight the vital role which we all can play in helping to alleviate and eventually end this obnoxious crime against humanity.
The event is suitable for the general public, community leaders, educators, frontline workers and anyone passionate about human rights and social justice.
