Families across Norwich and those visiting for the summer holidays are invited to a family fun day at Bishop’s Garden.

The event, which is being held on 24th July, boasts a wide range of outdoor activities to keep children and adults alike entertained throughout the afternoon.

Helen Banks of the NSPCC Norwich Group, said: “We wanted to give local and visiting families something fun to do at the start of the summer holidays, but also give something back at the same time that will help to improve the lives of children who aren’t as fortunate.

“As well as child-friendly croquet, there will be a treasure hunt, craft area, storytelling, books and puzzles to buy, facing painting and traditional games. We also wanted to ensure there were plenty of things for adults to enjoy too, which is why we have two tombolas and some live music and for budding gardeners there will be a plant sale.

The event will also feature refreshments and a cake sale, which the Norwich group have quickly become well-known for locally. At their last cake stall during the Jubilee weekend they raised over £500 in just two hours by selling their delicious baked goods.

Sarah Laffling, NSPCC Community Fundraising Manager for Norfolk, said: “The day promises to be a great day out for all the family and we are looking forward to seeing many happy faces on the day.

“When we all work together we can achieve so much and that’s why it’s important to support the NSPCC. Not all children have a happy childhood but together we can change that. This event is a great way to enjoy a fun day out, whilst supporting our services for children such as Childline.

“Our Childline counsellors work hard to ensure we are there for children when they need us. In 2020/21 they delivered over 200,000 counselling sessions to children and young people across the UK on the phone and online. We estimate* that around 2,500 of those counselling sessions were with children living in Norfolk. It costs £4 to answer one of those calls.”

Tickets for this event are just £5 for adults and children under 16 can attend for free. For more information please email: [email protected].
