The inaugural DissCover Book Festival opens a new chapter in Diss this May.

The festival, at The Corn Hall Diss from May 1st-3rd, aims to celebrate both the rich literary heritage of our region and authors from further afield, bringing together readers, writers and the wider community for a weekend of inspiration and discovery.

The festival opens on Friday May 1st with a literary walk along Mere Street in the town (tickets from Diss Museum). The day continues with a special sale of pre-loved books at The Corn Hall, organised by Oxfam, followed by a literary quiz in the evening, also at The Corn Hall.

On Saturday May 2nd the festival is delighted to welcome a group of brilliant women writers including award-winning journalist, broadcaster and bestselling author Daisy Buchanan, former stand-up comedian and author Kate Weston and bestselling author of historical romances Jenni Keer. Capturing the joys, challenges, and everyday realities of modern life, they will explore love, friendship, and self-discovery across contemporary and historical settings.

On Sunday May 3rd some of East Anglia’s finest nature writers take to the stage including the father of modern nature writing Richard Mabey, award-winning author of Sugar Beet Moon Tor Falcon and award-winning biographer Ian Collins. Through close attention and a deep love of the landscape, they show how noticing, tending, and creatively responding to the natural world can enrich everyday life — from gardens and fields to birds and night skies.

There will be book signing sessions throughout both days, when you can buy books from your favourite authors, all supplied by Diss Publishing.
