Sarah Doig explores some of the more interesting and bizarre fire-related incidents in our county, including the seventeenth-century town fire which saved a monarch’s life, a celebrated case of spontaneous human combustion in the 1700s and a mysterious disease which almost wiped out a complete family. Come and watch the sparks fly!

Sarah Doig grew up and was educated in Bury St Edmunds, where she sang in the cathedral choir. Since returning to Suffolk a decade ago after a twenty-year career in the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, Sarah has established herself as a popular speaker on local and family history.
To date, she has written six local history books, as well as contributing articles to several magazines.

After the talk, Sarah will be signing copies of her local history books which include the recently-published “The Little History of Suffolk”.
