Adventurers needed: for brand new woodland trail in Norfolk.

24 July – 31 September 2021, Raynham, NR21 7EH

An exciting new adventure trail is coming to Norfolk this summer; perfect for young explorers and their families to enjoy.  Located in Lady Ferrer’s Wood, in the heart of the beautiful Raynham Estate near Fakenham, Odin Events is bringing its hugely popular UK Adventure Trail event to East Anglia for the very first time.

Designed for children aged two to ten, the UK Adventure Trail Norfolk is a woodland walk with a difference.  Hidden around every tree there are fantastic beings and magical creatures for inquisitive explorers to discover.  From dragons and dinosaurs to pirates and aliens, eagle-eyed adventurers can spot more than 80 characters nestling in the woods, with six themed zones to wander through.

At just under 1.2km, the trail is the perfect length for little legs and usually takes between 45 and 60 minutes to complete.  With so many things to look out for, there’s no danger of children getting bored, and each intrepid explorer will receive a trail booklet to keep track of what has been spotted in the woods.

“We have been running events across the UK for more than ten years, but the global pandemic has made us think about things very differently.

After months of families being isolated from each other, we wanted to create events that allow children, parents and grandparents to spend quality time together in the fresh air; improving their wellbeing and promoting good mental health. Our trail at Raynham has been designed to be accessible and enjoyable for both for the youngest and oldest in every family.

With a wonderful combination of the natural world and engaging characters to look at, our aim is to create an environment where families can enjoy the countryside in a way that is stimulating for even the youngest in the group.”

Bethyn Barrass, Director of Odin Events, the company behind the UK Adventure Trails.

Lord Tom Raynham runs Raynham Estate. Hiring out space to companies such as Odin Events is just one of many ways he is opening up this incredible rural landscape for more people to enjoy.

“Lady Ferrers’ Wood is a unique piece of historic woodland, which has not been open to the public before and we are delighted that people will be able to enjoy it this summer through the UK Adventure Trails event.

Raynham is arguably one of Norfolk’s best kept secrets and by sharing just a small part of it with young children and their families, we hope it will inspire and nurture a love and respect for our local countryside.”

Once adventurers have finished the trail, they will be able to purchase a drink and snack overlooking the rolling countryside and woods of the Raynham Estate before heading home.

“We have been visiting Norfolk for many years and are very grateful to Tom for allowing us to bring UK Adventure Trails to the Raynham Estate,” continues Bethyn Barrass.

“Lady Ferrers’ Wood really is a unique venue, and we hope that the trail we have created will be a highlight of the summer holidays for many families this year.”

Entrance to the UK Adventure Trail Norfolk is £8 per person.  Children under two years go free. The trail has been designed to be Covid-safe, with each family group setting off five minutes apart. Booking in advance is essential. On-site parking is free.

The trail takes around 60 minutes to complete and is suitable for robust pushchairs. As the trail is through natural woodland it is not possible to guarantee that the route will be accessible for wheelchairs.
