A Regency Christmas
Frances Hart & Mike Clarke will be recreating the flavour of a bygone era in the celebration of Christmas. A dramatic appearance in costume, a vivid account of Christmas – the food, music and family games during the Regency period. Frances describes the Christmas celebrations of this time and Mike reads from the contemporary diaries of Parsons William Holland of Somerset and Gilbert White of Selborne. These contributions are accompanied by samples of music of the period, including carols from a village quire, village bands and country dance tunes.
